The Greek Laouto

Please join us for an exceptional musical program featuring Christos Zotos, a living legend and master of the Greek laouto, and Vasilis Kostas, his renowned student who attended the prestigious Berklee Global Jazz Institute. In duo performances of the most demanding instrumental songs for this traditional Greek lute, they discuss its history, repertoire, playing technique, and construction. Zotos was the first musician to push the limits of the laouto and created his own musical language for the instrument, and Kostas continues this tradition with his performances in the USA. They will play instruments made by Grecian master luthier Christos Tofas, one of which is being acquired for the collection at the Museum.
